Due to the variation of different shapes, colours, and sizes, freshwater pearls are very popular. They can range in size from 1 to 15 mm, most being between 4 and 6 mm. Their brilliance and lustre are limitless. Some are dull and milky, others have a sparkling brilliance, while others are very shiny.
Colours
The freshwater pearl has a very wide colour range that includes white, champagne, cream, orangey-pink, crimson, lilac, mauve, dark blue and brown.
Shapes
Fresh water pearls range greatly in shape. The most frequent shapes are egg-, button-, pear-, and potato-shaped. A perfectly round freshwater pearl is very rare, especially in larger sizes.
