Tahitian pearls range in colour from grey to green. They have hues that can be purple, brown, red and black. They are the only naturally occurring black or grey pearls. They are grown in Black lipped oysters, they are not only grown in Tahiti but all around the Tahitian archipelago - the cook islands and fiji also produce Tahitian pearls. Tahitian pearl sizes start at around 8.5mm and can go upto around 20mm however Tahitian pearls of 20mm are extremely rare and the prices therefore reflect this.
